Washingtonia

Genus of single-stemmed palms with large fan-shaped leaves with spiny petioles. The Mexican species Washingtonia robusta is characterized by a slimmer trunk in spite of its name, while the California species Washingtonia filifera has a wider trunk and grows less in height. Good resistance to low temperatures, high drought resistance, but growth is greatly increased with regular summer watering. Multi-trunk or single, large specimens available.
